Eventually, he spotted the hind near a river and devised a clever plan. He waited silently and shot a carefully aimed arrow, grazing the hind's leg without causing serious harm. This allowed him to capture it without violating Artemis's sanctity.

As Hercules carried the hind back, he encountered Artemis and Apollo. Furious at her sacred animal’s capture, Artemis confronted Hercules. However, he explained that he had no intention of harming the hind and was acting under orders. Moved by his honesty, Artemis permitted him to take the hind to Eurystheus temporarily, with the promise to return it.

Hercules fulfilled the labour and released the hind back to Artemis, showcasing his respect for the gods and his remarkable perseverance. This labour highlighted his cunning, restraint, and ability to navigate divine challenges.
