Hercules journeyed to Themiscyra, where the Amazons resided. Upon arrival, he met Hippolyta, who was impressed by his courage and strength. When Hercules explained his mission, Hippolyta, surprisingly, offered the girdle willingly, recognizing his honor. However, the goddess Hera, always seeking to thwart Hercules, intervened by disguising herself as an Amazon. She spread rumors among the warriors that Hercules intended to kidnap their queen.

The Amazons, believing the lie, attacked. A fierce battle ensued, forcing Hercules to defend himself. Though reluctant to use violence against Hippolyta, he was compelled to fight. Tragically, Hippolyta was killed during the conflict, and Hercules claimed the girdle as required.

Despite the loss, Hercules completed the labour and returned to Eurystheus with the girdle. This task highlighted his ability to face not only physical challenges but also moral dilemmas, underscoring the complexities of his heroism.
